Wedding in the UAE between the past and nowadays:
The wedding celebration in the UAE is considered an important tradition but it has changed from the past until today in various ways. We can notice the change in the bride preparations, groom preparations, traditional food and music or dance.
In the past the preparation for the bride lasted one week before the wedding day and it is called henna night or Laylat Al Henna. This week is considered a very special week for the bride because they decorate her with henna, oil and Arabian Kohl or eyeliner. For the groom's preparation it’s easy and there is nothing special only that he must give the dowry to the bride. The celebration involves both males and females but usually they celebrate separately.
Nowadays, weddings have changed a lot because of money and in some traditions. Today the wedding lasts one day and Laylat Al Henna happens the day before. In addition, the preparation for the bride and the dowry has become very high especially with gold and celebrations held in tents. However, there is something that hasn't changed a lot since the past and nowadays like the traditional food, songs and dance which can still be seen at any Arabic wedding.
Overall, the difference from the past concerns the bride's and groom's preparation mostly. In the past the wedding cost nothing compared nowadays. All these things make marrying in the UAE so difficult and lead man to marrying outside the country.
